STOURPORT are still going strong at the top of North Mids South Two despite being given a run for their money by Bromyard in a 28-7 win.
It took the Walshes Meadow men until the last 15 minutes to wrap up the victory which keeps them eight points ahead of nearest rivals Chaddesley Corbett.
Having won their previous five games, Bromyard arrived in confident mood and edged into a 7-5 lead at the break.
Number eight Richard Dorrell got Stourport's first half try and put them narrowly in front after the interval with a penalty.
At 8-7 up, the table-toppers began to take control and tries from Ian Doidge, Lee Philp and Toby Lee, along with a Dorrell penalty and conversion, ended Bromyard's brave resistance.
They visit Greyhound on Saturday.
Stourport seconds also had cause for celebration after winning 12-7 at Dudley Wasps.
In a highly combative game, they crossed the Wasps line twice through John Connelly and Ed Osborn Junior with Stu Wilson converting one.
On Saturday, the seconds entertain Chaddesley while the thirds are at Bridgnorth.
Chaddesley's home clash with Birmingham Exiles was postponed because their scheduled opponents failed to raise a team.
Rather than claiming the victory by default, Corbett want to re-arrange the fixture to hopefully boost their points difference.
Going into Saturday's trip to Bromyard, they are eight points adrift of Stourport in second place, but have three games in hand.
The seconds were forced to call off their match with Malvern due to a shortage of numbers and are in the pool for a fixture this weekend.
