POLICE are targeting boy racers who are causing a nuisance by racing around a Kidderminster car park during the evenings.
The problem, at Pyke Mills car park, off New Road, was raised by shop workers and college staff at a neighbourhood meeting discussing concerns about crime and disorder.
They claimed youths were congregating there in cars and racing around until late into the evening. The site was also being strewn with litter.
Town centre beat manager, PC Clive Llewellyn, said the issue had been chosen as one of the priorities for action by those who attended last week's Police And Community Together - PACT - meeting at the town hall.
"We are aware that on occasions youths in cars gather on the car park during mid to late evenings.
"On Friday and Saturday night last weekend, officers in our mobile CCTV van were carrying out regular patrols but no offences were being committed," said PC Llewellyn.
"However, high visibility police patrols will continue."
He added: "An update will be provided at the next PACT meeting on February 23."
