A SUPERSTAR Radio 1 DJ will be appearing in Kidderminster on Sunday.
Judge Jules will be at "Oh Funk It's Sunday", which is held at Yates's in Oxford Street, Kidderminster.
"Oh Funk It's Sunday" is held on the last Sunday of every month.
The evenings have been organised by Kidderminster-based Ama Promotions, which is made up of Tony Sheehy, Alan Evans, Martin Hogg and Ian Levy, who all DJ in the area.
Tony, who has been DJ-ing for eight years, said: "We have always wanted to do something like this for ages so we got together, discussed it and went from there. It is about time something is done to bring the nightlife back to Kidderminster and bring people in from outside the town."
Their first event, which Tony said was a great success, was held on December 18 and he explained the team was excited about welcoming Judge Jules.
He added: " I don't think anyone that big has ever DJ-ed in Kidderminster before. He is an international superstar DJ. It is exciting. Alan has been quite pally with Jules over the years. We put the idea to Jules and his agency and they were quite keen."
Jules has been DJ-ing since 1987 in venues across the UK as well as on almost every continent in the world and has won numerous awards, including Best Radio DJ at the Smirnoff Dance Star Awards in 2001.
Jules plays at clubs including Cream, Miss Moneypennys and Gatecrasher and moved to Radio 1 from Kiss FM in 1998.
Joining him at Yates's, will be "Oh Funk It's Sunday" resident DJs, Kideva and Funky DJs, as well as guest DJs, SteF@nny and G.I.Y.A.
Tony said: "When we have mentioned to people who we have coming, they are very interested and say 'It is what Kidderminster needs and what it is lacking'. The interest we've got and the support we have received from people in Kidderminster is fantastic. And when we logged on to Jules's website and saw "Oh Funk Its Sunday", Kidderminster, it was absolutely fantastic. It put such a big smile on my face."
On Sunday, February 26 "Oh Funk It's Sunday" will team up with Miss Moneypennys resident DJ, Ken Fan and on Sunday, March 26 FHM model, DJ Rebekah, will be at the venue.
Tony said: "It is going to be a busy couple of months and I am really looking forward to it."
Doors open at 7pm and admission is payable on the door. Organisers recommend getting there early to avoid disappointment.
