Badsey Ladies 2,
Kidderminster 2
SATURDAY'S re-arranged Worcestershire League second division fixture was a closely-fought encounter between two evenly matched teams.
Badsey began the match subdued manner, as they have been prone to do all season and this allowed Kiddermin-ster to take an early lead.
This setback galvanised Badsey into action, and they started to play much more positively.
The midfield trio of Shelley Banner, Sarah Turner and Lynne Ellarby began to look increasingly dangerous in support of the home forwards and, from one typically direct run, Turner found herself unchallenged in the circle and netted the equaliser with a lovely shot.
This lifted the whole team and Badsey were soon ahead when a ball in from the right was slotted home by Nikki Wright.
It was now Kidderminster's turn to pile on the pressure and goalkeeper Rachel Leem-ing had to be on top form to keep out the increasing atta-cks only to be beaten by a breakaway goal shortly before half-time.
Player of the match Leeming was the busier of the two keepers in the second half as Badsey found it difficult to clear the ball out of defence.
Up front they did have cha-nces but were thwarted by the visiting defence and some bad luck.
As the clock ticked down, Kidderminster increased their efforts but determined defending by the Amatics sponsored side ensured a deserved share of the points.
Badsey travel to Solihull to take on Old Silhillians on Saturday (12.30pm).
