A SPECIAL needs exhibition for people with dyslexia, learning difficulties and sight impairments will take place in Worcester tomorrow, in an effort to put the city on the education map.

With more than 25 per cent of children in education suffering with problems of some kind, finding a solution that makes the learning process easier is a key priority in our schools.

While there are many solutions available, very few parents and teachers know about them or where they can be obtained.

Now, Dolphin Computer Access, a specialist computer software company based in Blackpole, is to bring advice and help to people affected by these conditions in the first event of its kind locally.

The exhibition will showcase a range of computer and education solutions from various companies so parents and teachers alike will be able to experience them.

They will include Dolphin's latest Tutor system, which makes it easier for dyslexic sufferers to read and write. This allows the computer to read back what is being put on a PC screen, and as the words are read aloud, the corresponding text is highlighted, forming a visible link between the written word and spoken word.

The event will also include support from the British Dyslexia Association, the Dyslexia Institute, Worcester Association for the Blind and the Royal National College for the Blind.

The exhibition will be held at Worcester Guildhall. Admission is free and the event is from 10am until 4pm.

Steve Hawkes, Dolphin's marketing manager, said: "Many special needs exhibitions have been running successfully across the country for some time now and we wanted to bring this wealth of experience, knowledge and advice to Worcester.

"This is an ideal opportunity for parents concerned about their children's reading and writing skills to get first hand advice and also support.

"We hope that the event will be worthwhile and offer a range of solutions to help improve literacy standards in the area.

"If it is successful, we hope that this will become a regular event and it seems like a good opportunity to put Worcester on the education map."
