Shoppers at a village store in Worcestershire have dipped deep into their pockets to help victims of the Asian earthquake.
They raised nearly £670 at a collection at the Original Stores, Main Road, Kempsey, and have handed the money to the Worcester Muslim Welfare Association to help some of the thousands of people affected by the disaster in the Kashmir region of India and Pakistan.
The shop is run by Bob and Dalverlo Singh, who began the collection about two months ago in response to customers asking where they could donate money.
Malik Mohammed Fayaz, the president of the Worcester Muslim Welfare Association, said: "We are very grateful for these generous donations. It has helped a great deal. "
While the Original Stores has closed its collection, anyone wishing to donate to the association's campaign should sent cheques, payable to WMWA Earthquake Appeal, to Worcester Muslim Welfare Association, Tallow Hill, Worcester, WR5 1JU, or pay them in at Lloyds TSB, The Cross, Worcester.
