DRIVING through our county and motorway network, it's obvious that since 1997 the whole country has got dirtier.
The familiar rubbish lies on the road side - plastic bags that drivers now throw out, and the endless discarded plastic bottles on every motorway island.
Please, someone, join me in writing to the respective council's the Highways Agency responsible for the motorways to get something done.
According to the Highway Agency, the motorways should be cleared of litter around once per month. Would anyone please tell me when they last saw this happen on either junction 4, 5, 6 or 7. Instead the Highways Agency appears to be busy chopping down the trees and destroying the bio-diversity by spraying weed-killer over everything that grows around the motorway, turning the sides of our major roads into something from a doomsday scenario .
Isn't dropping litter an offence? Surely our police force that spends time sitting on the top of motorway islands must see the culprits?
What a difference when I drive through countries such as Holland and Germany. The whole of the countryside looks cleaner than here in England.
So please, someone help to get our council's to get the place cleaned up .
