UNDER-13 players from Bredon Buzzards were surprised to find England international referee Chris White officiating last weekend in a triangular against Cheltenham, for whom the referee's son plays, and Dursley.
Cheltenham were first up and they needed to be at their best defensively in the first half to keep a dominant Bredon out.
The Buzzards kept their foot on the pedal after the interval and the pressure finally told as Will Graulich and Ross Attwood both touched down in a 10-0 win.
Dursley then defeated Cheltenham to ensure a match between the winners and another forward dominated clash ensued.
Attwood scored first and James Finlay's conversion made it 7-0, while a second score of the morning for Graulich and extra points this time from Scott Bunch eased Bredon to a 14-0 victory.
The club's mini section travelled to Kidderminster to play in a triangular alongside the hosts and Old Halesonians.
First up against Old Halesonians, the Under-12s went down to a try early in the first half.
A determined recovery, though, produced scores for Josh Blackman, Jake Walker (2) and a superb 40-yard dash by Ollie Tombs.
Blackman's reliable boot added an additional eight points in a 28-5 success.
Straight back on pitch without a break, Bredon were under pressure for most of the first half that ended 7-0 in Kidderminster's favour.
Bredon fought back and, with their first attack, Max Barber scored with Blackman converting to bring the game all-square.
Kidderminster stepped up the pressure and finally broke through a gutsy Bredon defence just before the final whistle to sentence the villagers to a 14-7 reverse.
The Under-10s made a flying start against Kidderminster Carolians with tries for Joe Taylor and Charlie Farmer.
Brandon Wain added to the scoreline before Ben Vincent notched up a hat-trick to ensure a resounding 30-0 success.
Against Old Hales, the Buzzards again scored early through Ben Cooke. David Bath and Matt Doyle also went over followed by further scores from Will Dovey and Sam Beech for a 25-0 interval cushion.
There was more of the same after the break when Farmer, Vincent, Cooke (2) and Bath touched down in a 50-0 final scoreline.
The Under-9s also faced Halesonians and controlled the game from the start. Danny Barber ran in two tries in each half and Jamie Lamb's splendid individual score sealed a 25-5 victory.
The winners again showed good discipline against Kidderminster and Matthew Peters ran in the first try before Tim Fenney also crossed to give Bredon the edge at half-time.
Sustained Kiddy pressure in the second half halved the arrears but it only proved a consolation as Robert Mueller's try sealed a 15-5 success.
