IN the absence of our president, Jennie Williams - our vice president, conducted the business of the evening and one of her pleasant duties was to present a member who had just celebrated her golden wedding anniversary with a plant and our good wishes. She informed the meeting that tickets for the pudding supper, to be held on May 12, were now available and hoped that we would be well supported. Tickets were also available for a theatre trip to see the Mikado in Worcester and members were asked if they were interested in a trip to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham during the autumn.
Our speaker for the evening was Dr Mylechreest, his subject being Botany in the Garden. His talk was illustrated with slides and we all found it most interesting and informative. We learnt how the environment, weather conditions, soil condition, disease, fertilizers and light all play their part in affecting the growth of plants.
Our speaker on February 13 will be discussing Finance for Women. If you would like more information please contact the president, Denise Cotterill, on 01905 754411.
