A BROMSGROVE group is celebrating a record collection for good causes in the town.
Bromsgrove Round Table's annual Santa Sleigh raised a massive £5,413, which was collected from residents whose roads they visited.
In the run up to Christmas the dedicated members all donned snowmen outfits and took Father Christmas around many roads in Bromsgrove to spread festive cheer.
Table member Mike Everard said: "We want to thank the Advertiser for all its support with coverage and all the residents for their fantastic donations.
"We had a great time, and the weather was mild so we were very lucky. We also had help from Bromsgrove Ladies' Circle members, who were excellent."
He added: "We are very pleased with the results and we can now deliver the funds to deserving causes in the community."
Of the cash £1.25 will be earmarked for all 2,392 first school children in the town to buy new books for their school libraries.
As part of the countdown to Christmas the group also ran a colouring contest where first school youngsters could colour in a festive picture.
More than 1,100 entries were received and the winner was Cameron Aderon, aged seven, from Charford First School, who won a portable DVD player.
Two youngsters, from The Oakalls and Charford, also got the chance to meet Santa at their home and receive a present from him in a contest on the Round Table's website.
