A NEW face is needed on a parish council near Bromsgrove after one member resigned.
Councillor Kevin Clarke left Stoke Parish Council earlier this month after serving for about a year.
Now signs have been put up in the area giving the public 14 days to say if they want an election. The deadline to request an election is today (Wednesday).
If less than ten electors do not request one then a new member can be co-opted. So far there have been two applications for the post, but other residents can put their hat in the ring.
Parish council clerk Patrick Calloway said: "We are looking for people who are interested in local affairs and are able to volunteer their time.
"There are the monthly council meetings, plus they can join committees and working groups. They also need to live within three miles of the parish boundary."
Once nominations are in it is up to the parish council to decide the most suitable candidate to join the nine other parish councillors.
Two more places could also be up for grabs as Stoke is a 12-person group, but Patrick is awaiting confirmation from Bromsgrove District Council to go ahead with this. The same process will then follow and new members will either be elected or co-opted. For more details and an application form for the vacancy contact Patrick on 871861.
