PUPILS from Bromsgrove and Droitwich helped Worcestershire record its best ever results in the Government's latest GCSE league tables.
The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) released the final figures for GCSE results in its annual performance tables last week.
In Worcestershire the average percentage of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades rose from 54.9 per cent in 2004, to 55.7 per cent when results were announced in August.
Leading the way was Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School in Droitwich where 100 per cent of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades.
Headteacher Joan Mumby said: "While league tables don't ever give a true picture of a school's performance, we are delighted with our girls' achievements. Their success is a result of inspirational staff and the level of individual attention only possible in a smaller school."
Elsewhere, an impressive 95 per cent of pupils at Bromsgrove School gained five or more A* to C, while South Bromsgrove Community High School saw 64 per cent reach the same level.
Droitwich Spa High School notched up 57 per cent and Waseley Hills High School and Sixth Form Centre scored 54 per cent.
At North Bromsgrove High School, 45 per cent of pupils gained five or more A* to C grades.
The league tables are available online at www.dfes.gov.uk.
