Graffiti spelling out the initials of the racist Klu Klux Klan is still blighting a Droitwich Spa wall, despite calls from police for it to be removed.

Two police officers have reported the "offensive and disgraceful" KKK slogan daubed on brickwork at the bottom end of The Holloway, but as yet nothing has been done. A Droitwich Police said: "We are looking into complaints of graffiti-writing, but do not believe that those in question are targeted at anyone specifically. It could well be that this is more of a prank than specific racist-related criminal damage.

"We have spoken to the owner of the property which has been targeted by graffiti-writers and he has agreed to ensure that the lettering is removed - we expect that to happen at any time now."

The slogan spelling out the initials of the US-based white supremacists group was first spotted by an off-duty police officer who condemned the "offensive and disgraceful" graffiti. She reported it to the warden of a nearby nursing home in the hope the it would be cleaned. Her complaint was also followed up by that of colleague Pc Lloyd Buffery, from Droitwich Spa Police.

The off-duty officer and town resident said she also found it shocking that no-one else had reported the problem, with townsfolk seeming to ignore it. She added: "I am surprised that no one else has highlighted the problem. This has been there long enough and should be removed sooner rather than later."

Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen anyone writing graffiti in The Holloway, or elsewhere. They can be contacted on 08457 444888.
