THE head of youth cricket at Evesham Cricket Club, Dave Martin, has reported to parents that the Avon Street youngsters had their best season ever last summer and are looking forward to even more success.
"The Under-16s reached the finals of both the Worcestershire and Midlands competitions, while the 13s reached the District Final," Martin recalled.
"Overall, we have more young members and more youngsters coming to the ground for coaching than ever before in the club's history".
No fewer than ten young players - David Waters, Chris Ayliffe, Niran Chana, Andrew Fisher, Sam Cheshire, Greg Jones, Matt Marskell, Daniel Sproul, Jamie Anderson and Lisa Martin - have been accepted for winter coaching with county youth squads.
The Birmingham Premier League club is running five youth teams in leagues and competitions at Under-12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 age groups in 2006 together with a girls squad. All coaches are ECB qualified and CRB cleared.
The club still looking for more parents to join the Youth Committee and help manage youth teams, while also welcoming boys and girls of all ages from nine to 18 of all levels.
