WESTFIELDS' away blues continued with a 3-1 defeat at Loughborough Dynamo in the Midland Alliance.

Their opponents completed the league double over them after winning 3-2 at allpay.park earlier in the season.

Relegation-threatened Westfields did not help themselves, conceding a first-minute goal and having skipper Mark Hibbard sent off for an over-zealous tackle on 30 minutes.

They immediately faced an uphill task when Rob Edmunds broke down the right to beat goalkeeper Mark Hopkins on his near post.

Jon Hill's volley forced a stunning save from Loughborough's Steve Windegaard as the visitors retaliated.

But slick Loughborough threatened further with disaster striking for Westfields when Hibbard was red carded.

The hosts went in at half-time two goals up after another quick break saw Edmunds turn to fire in off the far post.

After the break, Westfields' 10 men battled well but conceded a third to Kirk Master on 51 minutes.

Paul Burton lobbed inches over as well as hitting the woodwork and forcing a great save, while defender Wayne Hoskins was denied by Windegaard.

Westfields' Alex Hunt rose to head in a corner in the last minute.

Pegasus Juniors tried to avenge a five-goal loss at Shortwood but produced a flat home display in a 1-1 draw.

The Hellenic League Premier match started badly for Pegasus when Shortwood scored on three minutes.

But the home side pulled themselves back into the game before half-time and then enjoyed more possession without finding the winner.

Confusion resulted in Tim Haddock forcing a save from Bryn Watkins but Rich Moore crashed home the rebound for Shortwood's opener. Watkins then blocked well from Chris Greenhough.

Pegasus created a chance but Rob Laurie headed off target only for them to level three minutes from the interval.

Paul Brown won a fine tackle before picking out David Hart whose pass put away Chris Mortlock and his cross was headed in by Laurie from 10 yards.

Pegasus could not add the winner in the second period and are the league's draw specialists with seven so far.

Archdales '73's long run of unbeaten games came to an abrupt end with a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Handsworth in Midland Combination Division One.

Handsworth dominated the early exchanges and took the lead when Django Farrell bundled home after good work by Josiah Tweede.

Farrell made it 2-0 from the spot after Neil Mogford fouled Aldean Walters. 'Dales pulled a goal back with a neat turn and strike from Lee Seldon.

With the first-half in stoppage-time, Craig Edwards' 35-yard strike gave Handsworth a two goal half-time lead.

'Dales came into the game more in the second-half but Handsworth once more took advantage on the counter-attack with a superb goal by Tweede.

Late on, Jason Beck nodded home Ashley Banner's free-kick but that was scant consolation as Handsworth fully deserved the three points.
