STOURPORT put away form side Bromyard in the Worcestershire derby to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Despite winning their last five games, Bromyard found themselves on the wrong end of a 28-7 score-line at Walshes Meadow.
Stourport started the quicker, placing their opponents under pressure from the first whistle. They crossed Bromyard's line twice in the first ten minutes, only for the final passes to be judged forward.
Stourport eventually opened the scoring from a five-metre scrum, driving Bromyard back and enabling number eight Richard Dorrell to touch the ball down.
Bromyard were not willing to lie down and surrender, always looking dangerous on the break. From a scrum near their own 22-metre line, the visiting centre cut clean through the Stourport defence, delivering a perfect pass for their full-back to score under the home team's posts.
The conversion was successful and the teams went into the break with the visitors two points ahead.
Stourport stayed faithful to their running game and there were outstanding performances from Dorrell, Steve McDonald and Richard Abbott, who were carving holes in Bromyard's defence.
Dorrell converted a penalty goal and, following a superb break by Lee Philp, centre Ian Doidge scored Stourport's second try.
Soon after, McDonald pierced Bromyard's defence with a storming run before providing Philp with a scoring pass.
Stourport's final try was scored by winger Toby Lee crashing through a desperate tackle by the full-back. His effort was converted by Dorrell.
The second team were also victorious, beating Dudley Wasps 13-7. The visitors crossed the Wasps line twice through John Connelly and Ed Osborn Jnr, with Stu Wilson converting one.
Stourport visit Greyhound in a league fixture on Saturday, while the seconds entertain Chaddesley and the thirds visit Bridgnorth.
Meanwhile, Worcester Wanderers' inconsistent season continued with a 15-8 defeat at the hands of Berkswell & Balsall.
Wanderers allowed themselves to become frustrated and missed first-up tackles, allowing Berkswell's forward-orientated approach to get them over the gain line and starve the able Worcester backs of the ball.
Tempers flared and, as a result, three yellow cards were shown in the second-half.
The result was all the more frustrating given that Worcester had triumphed 39-14 over Shipston on Stour at Sixways in a re-arranged fixture last week, producing one of their best all-round performances of the season so far.
That game saw some great running lines from Joph Young, who scored a great try.
Stephen Crowe made his debut for the club with a strong performance and a try.
