City dwellers are being given the chance to enjoy a taste of the countryside right on their doorstep.
They are to be offered a free guided walk at the Worcester Woods Country Park and will be able to find out, firsthand, about rare breed cattle.
English Longhorn cattle are grazing at the Hornhill Meadows Local Nature Reserve and the county council's countryside service is organising a lunchtime walk around the meadows on Thursday, February 2 to see them.
As part of the guided tour, visitors will be taught about the important part cattle play in helping to maintain wild plants and other animals in the area.
Rob Stevenson, countryside sites officer, said: "The cows are a brilliant addition to the country park. These cattle play a vital part in ensuring that these ancient, traditional meadows are maintained for the wild plants and animals which live there. The short walk will look at the benefits cattle grazing brings, as well as giving a chance to see the beasts."
The walk starts at 12.45pm and will last for about 45 minutes.
People taking part are advised to wear outdoor clothing and stout shoes or boots.
