A Worcestershire IT company has spotted a niche in a market and literally moved into it.

Compass Computers, based in Holt Heath, is having great success with a full IT removal and relocation service it is offering to corporate and small user clients.

"Most people will agree that moving house or office is a stressful event," said managing director Martyn West.

"Whether you are changing your domestic scenery or uprooting a corporate HQ, chances are you are going to have to shift a PC or two. However, it's not just a PC any more, it's the accessories too.

"If you're moving home, you've probably got a printer, a scanner, maybe a web-cam, broadband, modem and a tangle of wires to sort out.

"But scale that up into an office environment, whether it's five or 50 people in an open-plan office, all on PCs, all networked together, along with modems, printers and software. It might all work well enough before the move, but if the system is re-installed with just one wrong cable, or one programme glitch, then the whole system can come crashing down - causing loss of time and money."

Mr West believes a removal company cannot be expected to deal with complex IT issues.

"IT relocation is very complicated and removal companies just aren't geared up to handle it," he added.

The Compass solution is comprehensive. The company deals with everything from planning services, booking and installing broadband in new offices then de-installing and finally re-commissioning the whole IT infrastructure.

Work is intense and time-pressured, meaning that the Compass team frequently needs to work nights and weekends to complete projects, providing a system that is ready to use. Client Chris Golden, managing director of Midas Tanks, said: "Martyn and his team completely took away the headaches of moving the IT our business depends on.

"They enabled us to create an essential link with our factory in Northern Ireland which is an absolute necessity in terms of monitoring orders, stock levels and company developments across the channel.

"This line of communication is integral to our business and without the help of Compass Computers the set-up would have caused extreme hassle and a number of very late nights."
