ROCK legend Elton John will be performing in Worcester this summer - but the big question now is who will be taking to the stage with him.
The Worcester News revealed last November how the Rocket Man - renowned for his extravagant costumes - will be performing at Worcester County Cricket Club on Sunday, June 11.
It is set to be the biggest pop concert ever held in the city, with up to 20,000 people expected to pack the New Road venue.
Now, concert promoters Marshall Arts have revealed they are working on the support act for the major gig, for which 14,000 tickets have already been sold, with an announcement due to be made at the end of this month. Previously, the star has been joined by flamboyant New York act The Scissor Sisters and former soldier turned pop-singer James Blunt before they both hit the big time.
Last year, friend and fellow veteran pop star Lulu shared the bill with the singer, who is famed for hits including Candle In The Wind and Rocket Man.
Ben Martin of Marshall Arts said there was likely to only be one support act but did not rule out another big name playing.
He added: "We're working on it at the moment and Elton has always had a very big hand in choosing the support acts so we'll just have to see."
The venue has had to lay on additional hospitality following the huge response to the show, with packages including a three-course meal, champagne reception and concert programme, which are now available, priced £195-£225. The promoters are also speaking to the city council to put in place information about car parking and work has begun on the stage and light show.
Mr Martin added: "Every-thing's coming together very well and we'd say to people if you are planning on coming, to get a ticket sooner rather than later as we expect it to be a sell-out.
"With the addition of a support artist it'll make it an even stronger line-up and an event not to be missed."
Standard tickets are still available for the show, priced £40 and £60, by calling 0871 230 5442, 0870 4445556 or 0870 1012123.
Hospitality packages are available by calling 01905 4337933.
