BOBBIES on bicycles are tackling crime in Warndon and Warndon Villages.
Beat managers PC Nick Davies and PC Duncan Eades are patrolling on two wheels to further improve community safety and reassure residents, as well as to reduce car usage.
The initiative results from a partnership between the Worcester Choose How You Move project, Worcester Community Housing and South Worcestershire police.
Chief Inspector Sharon Gibbons said: "While there is a certain element of 'retro' involved in city police officers using bicycles, there are a number of practical elements that will no doubt benefit the community and the officers."
Worcester's Community Safety Co-ordinator Tracy Reck said in other parts of the country police officers on bikes have proven to be more effective in fighting crime.
"It also promotes a positive interaction between the public and the police and making communities feel more assured."
