A MALVERN man is up in arms after claiming his landlords wrote off his autistic son's mini-moto and are refusing to accept responsibility.
Neal Wright's seven-year-old son Joel, who also suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, has come on leaps and bounds both in the classroom and on the racetrack since he was first introduced to motocross a year ago. He has won several medals and trophies for his achievements.
But Neal, of Ramsons Close, claims Joel's prized bike, worth more than £2,000, was written off after his landlords Elgar Housing Association turned up to carry out repair work on his house.
"While carrying out the work they smashed into the concrete lean-to on the side of the house where we keep Joel's bike," he said.
"Inside was a load of cleaning fluids and acid which was spilled on to the bike and corroded it.
"We approached Elgar Housing Association but they have refused to give us any compensation and are now telling me I have to take the lean-to down.
"I've had to fork out to buy Joel a new bike as it is the only thing that keeps him doing so well. If we have to remove the shed he'll have nowhere to keep this one and I'll have to tell him he can't ride."
Richard Grounds, commercial director at Elgar Housing Association, said: " Mr Wright has made a formal complaint to the association. Staff from the association have met Mr Wright and they have listened to his complaint. The matter is now being dealt with through our formal complaints process. It would not be appropriate to comment on the issues while the complaint is being addressed."
