LITTLE by little, we are getting our city back. Some of those bald patches called car parks are starting to sprout new growth in the form of houses.
The one I have in mind is the development next to Newport Street. Once, this part of Worcester was a rookery of homes that made up part of the former Birdport area. That was all before my time, of course - but apparently this was once a notorious district. I've always thought that the 1950s-60s redevelopment catastrophe left Worcester with a threadbare appearance.
Happily, the current in-filling will heal and restore this city.
