SUNDAY saw thesoccersite.co.uk Malvern League leaders Bell Inn 98 consolidate their position when they entertained bottom-of-the-table Keys Victoria and took the points with a comfortable 14-0 victory.
The scoreline could have been much higher but for a splendid performance by Keys Victoria keeper Simon Ward, who made several good saves, and some woeful finishing by the home forwards, who squandered numerous opportunities. Bell Inn 98's goals came from Chris O'Neill, Ashley Johnson, an own goal, two from Chris Grubb and hat-tricks for Ashley Jones, Lee Hooper and Dan Herbert.
Cross Keys, playing their first game since December 18, maintained second place when they entertained Belmont Keys and won 3-1 with their goals coming from Mike Cole, Ollie Endacott and Adam Derrington, with Belmont's response coming from Dave Perera.
Oak Misfits entertained Keyz 04 and following a close game, the points were shared with a 4-4 draw. Oak Misfits started off displaying their recent upsurge in form and took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Martin Loveridge and Zeki Koral. Andy Lancett pulled a goal back before Keyz 04's Mark White took centre stage. Firstly he headed a Zeki Koral effort past his own keeper and then to make amends, he went up the other end and scored at the right end to pull it back to 2-3 at half-time.
Keyz 04 then took the lead in the second-half when Andy Lancett scored twice to complete his hat-trick but with time running out, Oak Misfits earned a share of the points when Asa Smith scored in the last minute.
There were two first round games in the President's Cup and they both ended with similar scorelines.
Morgan Aero 8 entertained Ledbury Rangers and goals from James Argent, Dave Lawrence and Matt Isley put them into the next round.
Dynamo Ledbury visited Fromes Hill Reserves and also won 3-0 to go through, but not before they were given a fight by a game home team. Dynamo Ledbury took the lead in the second minute when Pete Boyle scrambled the ball home from close range. If Dynamo thought this was going to be an easy passage to the next round they were in for a surprise. A combination of resolute play by Fromes Hill Reserves and signs of rustiness by the visitors, who were playing for the first time since December 11, meant that it was not until the final 15 minutes of the game that first, a good diving header from Martin Punt from an Adam Thomas cross, and then a close range effort from Mitch Preedy made the game safe.
Oak Allstars visited Taylor Lane in the Herefordshire Sunday Cup and giving an excellent performance went through to join Dynamo Ledbury in the third round. Two goals from Jamie James made it 2-0 at half-time but a scintillating second-half display saw Jamie James net another three with Mark Toman, making a rare appearance, netting twice and Jamie Gladwin completing the scoring.
In a see-saw game in The Worcester Infirmary Cup, Talbot Head battled well before a last-minute goal saw them go down 5-6 to home side Waseley United. Talbot Head started well and took an early lead through a Danny Briscoe effort before the home side netted three times to make it 3-1 at half-time.
Two second-half penalties from Danny Briscoe to complete his hat-trick made it 3-3 and then as the home side went ahead twice more, goals from Adam Webb and Paul Harris pulled Talbot back level before an 89th minute goal by Waseley United finally put paid to all Talbot Head's hard work.
This Sunday sees leaders Bell Inn at Fromes Hill with Cross Keys entertaining the ever-improving Oak Misfits side.
