POWICK were disappointing in the first half of this Worcester Sunday League division one game and failed to make much impact.

POWICK 4, PERDISWELL 1

The hard work of the Perdiswell players meant Powick never established a rhythm and were showing signs of frustration.

Just before half-time Perdiswell took the lead when a breakaway saw a clinical finish beyond the helpless Steve Davis.

Stern words from manager Mike Burton at half-time saw an improved performance and Powick began to get a grip on the crucial midfield area.

With Stu Harvey in unusually quiet form, Powick were thankful to Dean Drinkwater for grabbing the crucial equalising goal that knocked Perdiswell back and inspired Powick.

Powick continued to press but found the Perdiswell goalkeeper in inspired form. As Powick began to doubt whether this would be their day, a free-kick routine from Andy Collard and Dean Drinkwater saw a Gary Henderson header put Powick into the lead for the first time and now confidence began to flow throughout the side.

Lee Henderson and Phil Skilton were beginning to dominate and Perdiswell were pushed onto the back foot. A crisp finish by Drinkwater from a tight angle saw a two-goal cushion and the scoring was finished just before the final whistle when Gary Henderson beat three defenders and rounded the keeper to provide Powick with a somewhat flattering scoreline.

Credit should be given to Perdiswell who worked hard throughout the game and gave a spirited performance.

Man-of-the-match, for a display of excellent handling in difficult conditions, was Steve Davis.
