THE new community gym at Worcester's YMCA held two open days to show people the facilities on offer.
The Worcester YMCA Community Gym, based at the centre off Henwick Road, St John's, boasts both cardiovascular equipment, like rowing machines, as well as barbells and dumbbells.
Users of the gym will also be able to get advice on healthy living programmes, attend exercise classes as well as food and nutrition courses.
It is aimed at first-time gym users and those who wouldn't feel comfortable in large gyms or fitness centres.
In October 2005, the Worcester News reported that the YMCA had received a substantial anonymous donation of several thousand pounds. The undisclosed sum was put towards setting up the gym.
Professor David Green, vice chancellor of the University of Worcester, will officially open the gym on Wednesday, February 8.
For more information call the YMCA on 01905 423197.
