LAST Thursday, 25 members of Powick Parish Ramblers (including some visitors and four dogs) met at Leigh Sinton Garden Centre for a two-and-a-half hour walk. The route included a stretch of the Worcestershire Way and passed through part of Norbury's apple orchards and skirted the foothills of Storridge Common, with views across the Severn Valley. Thanks to Joy and Phil Bunyan for leading the walk.
This Sunday, the visiting preacher at matins at St Peter's church, Powick at 11am will be Captain Steve Smith, of the Salvation Army in Malvern. This marks the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Other pulpit exchanges in the benefice are: St James Callow End, 9.30am, Deacon Luis Kelly (Roman Catholic); Madresfield, 11am, The Rev. Trevor Rowe (Methodist); Guarlford, 9.30am, The Rev. Edward Williams (Baptist).
Congratulations to the members of the Royal British Legion (Powick and Callow End branch) for raising £2,625 for the Poppy Appeal. Special thanks to the poppy collectors, especially to the late Ray Henley, who acted as poppy organiser over the last ten years. He will be sadly missed.
Tickets are still available for the concert at Powick Parish Hall when the Hill Singers will entertain at 7.30pm on Saturday, January 28. Tickets cost £6, including refreshments, and are in aid of the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. Ring Joy or Phil Bunyan on (01886) 832774.
