I WAS surprised by your claim that Malvern Rugby Football Club is Malvern's biggest sports club (Malvern Gazette, December 30) and wonder on what basis this claim is made.

At Manor Park Club, the tennis section alone has over 330 adults and over 300 junior playing members. The indoor bowls section has between 500 and 600 playing members. The squash section has over 100 playing members who are not also tennis players. Adding the outdoor bowls, table tennis and archery sections, the total playing membership is over 1,000 adults and 300 juniors.

Our clubhouse facilities and ground are significantly larger than the rugby club's. Furthermore, in the form of Manor Park Trust, the club effectively holds the freehold of its own grounds.

Over the past 18 months, the club has completed clubhouse extensions costing over £100,000, financed entirely from internal resources.
