DROITWICH'S John Bickerton made a solid start to the inaugural Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, carding a level par round of 72.
Bickerton's round, which featured two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars, leaves him six shots off the overnight leader, 34-year-old South African Keith Horne, who shot a new course record 66.
The Droitwich Golf Club member was tied for 34th spot alongside Ryder Cup stars Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey and Ian Poulter.
Hereford's David Park was in steady form, parring the first 17 holes only to blot his copy book at the par five 18th where he took a six for a one-over 73.
The score left the Burghill Valley Golf Club player tied for 48th spot.
