SUNDAY saw the running of Malvern cycling club VC Sevale's reliability ride which attracted 57 riders.

In the circuit of Bredon, 32 riders were in the fast group and 22 in the slow group. The slower group set off first but was held up for five minutes at road works and then had a minor crash on Hook Bank.

Because of this, they were caught by the fast group in Upton rather than on the lanes near Kinnersley as usually happens on this event, however this did make for a great scene as 50 bikes sped through the town.

Shortly after this, the large peleton broke up into much smaller groups, the strong headwind made the outward leg very tough. The first riders completed the event in 2hrs and 25 minutes, the last riders came in about an hour later.

Three riders rode the shorter ride to Tewkesbury.

Many of the riders wore black armbands in respect for the four cyclists from the Rhyl Road Club who lost their lives in an accident the previous week.

The club rides continue as usual throughout the winter and there are plans for running a Saturday ride for beginners in the spring.
