LIVEWIRE Mark Danks is poised to receive a dream debut tomorrow as Worcester City chase much-needed Nationwide North points.
Striker Danks -- signed from Forest Green Rovers in mid-week -- is in line to start at Gainsborough Trinity with Leon Kelly suspended after racking up five yellow cards.
And while player-manager Andy Preece is hesitant to pile pressure on the 21-year-old recruit, he expects Danks to revel in the St George's Lane spotlight.
"There's no pressure on Danksy to suddenly start scoring a load of goals," said Preece. "But if opportunities come along, I expect him to get his fair share.
"He's different to the other strikers here. He should complement what we've already got and I don't think he will have a problem working with the others.
"He gives us a spark and that's why I've signed him. He looked very sharp in training and he'll be pushing for a start. He's got good match fitness and is raring to go.
"Obviously, Mark being here adds to the competition we already have up front, with myself, Troy, Leon and Webby. I'm just trying to get the right combination at the moment."
Danks is likely to figure at Northolme alongside Adam Webster, who was relegated to the substitutes bench for the first time this season at Crawley Town.
Preece also faces a midfield dilemma with Sam Wedgbury given the all-clear after recovering from a slight ankle niggle.
Teenager Wedgbury could join Nick Colley, with George Clegg pushed into an attacking role, while Tom Warmer is fighting for a recall after being left out in the FA Trophy.
Other selection posers arise elsewhere. At Crawley, Shabir Khan impressed on the left-hand side of central defence but the 20-year-old finds his role under threat from Dennis Pearce.
Les Hines and Liam McDonald also tussle for the left wing-back jersey. Midfielders Graham Hyde (groin) and Jai Stanley (knee) are a fortnight away from a return.
Relegation-threatened Worcester are two points off the dropzone -- Alfreton and Hednesford occupy the bottom two -- and are without a league victory on the road in nine attempts.
The trip to Lincolnshire is the first of three away journeys in four games and Preece admits City's record outside of St George's Lane must improve if they harbour hopes of staying up.
He said: "Our away form is going to have to improve. Our home form is always key, but we need to pick up points away from home. We have not done that. We've got three away games coming up and now is the time to start getting some results.
"We are in a relegation battle because I cannot say anything else. However, I'm still confident in the squad and the foundations that have been laid. We are definitely better than we were this time last season. I think the players we have brought in are better. We are just not producing the results."
Frustrated Preece also wants greater consistency from his players, claiming that is vital to converting losses into draws and then claiming wins.
"We've seen a lot of players thinking they are doing OK. But when we've got 11 players doing OK, it's never going to be good enough to win games.
"We need at least eight or nine players doing really well for 90 minutes for the next eight, nine or 10 games."
