MALVERN Town Reserves travelled to Brereton last weekend and found a small pitch with a considerable slope, which proved to be a great advantage for the home side.
BRERETON 3, MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 0
Malvern started off playing much the better football but failed miserably when it came to creating real scoring chances. On the day Brereton's big defence did everything required of them to frustrate Malvern's front men.
Brereton's game plan was to get the ball into Malvern's 18-yard box as often as possible.
This tactic worked and three minutes before half-time Fardoe found Jon-Rob Dutton on the penalty spot and he headed home for 1-0.
Nine minutes into the second-half Brereton won a corner which bobbled around the six-yard box and when skipper Jamie Thomas tried to clear the ball upfield it hit keeper Tom Smith's legs and rebounded into the goal.
With time running out Brereton's right winger raced down the field and crossed for two unmarked players. Peter Martin took control and side-footed home.
The only bright spot for Malvern was youth substitute James Aston who had a couple of nice runs and grazed the cross-bar with a cracking shot just before the final whistle.
