Bloxwich II 1, Pershore II 2
THE visitors came out of the blocks with a bang and displayed a determination and fluency in their play that shows they are eager to push for a promotion place.
Pershore passed the ball at pace and used their wingers to great effect but it was Bloxwich who broke the deadlock against the run of play.
Bloxwich showed a lack of ambition despite being a goal ahead and a clinical finish from Martin Thomas soon levelled matters.
The second half began with Pershore once again playing positively and a second and ultimately decisive goal came five minutes after the restart when a driving run from Thomas drew a fine save from the Blox-wich keeper.
The rebound, though, fell to a grateful Rob Smith who was left with a simple finish.
Stone III 1, Pershore III 0
THE thirds defended resolutely throughout with excellent performances from Rushin, Moreby, Stevenson and Handley.
Attacking threats came sporadically with Luke Dalley releasing James Barker on the wing but new year rustiness showed and chances, when they came, went to waste
Stone dominated possession throughout but needed a rather fortuitous winner when a weak cross was turned into his own net by a defender.
The second half was a similar story and the visitors were indebted to goalkeeper Lee Wickersham who prevented Stone adding to their tally.
