A DOG that had attacked sheep in a field in Wolverley was shot dead by a farmer on Tuesday.
The incident prompted police to warn dog owners farmers have the right to shoot any dog worrying their livestock. A second dog ran off.
A police spokesman said: "We believe the farmer was justified in his actions. It is the responsibility of dog owners to ensure their pet is kept under control and on a lead around livestock."
