KIDDERMINSTER Cobras overcame Great Barr Lasers in an unusually low-scoring Midlands Premier Division 53-29 victory after racing into an early lead.
Some brilliant baseline passing from man of the match Martin Usherwood, who combined well with Mark Bonshor, gave them a 17-2 first quarter advantage.
Lasers were struggling to find the basket, failing to find their shooting range and solid if not spectacular play from Cobras turned the screw as the game progressed with John Jackson effective at both ends.
Ultimately the match was won through impressive defence and coach Terry Cash was pleased to see an opposing side kept to their lowest total since Kidderminster rejoined the premier league five years ago.
Quarter Scores: 17-6, 10-8 (27-14), 12-6 (39-20), 14-9 (53-29)
