Littleton 3, Northfield Tn 0
IN FRONT of a good-sized crowd, Littleton kept their recent good run going when they beat Saturday's second in the table visitors.
Town had only lost two league games prior to this defeat but on the day the hosts were worthy winners.
The opening 20 minutes belonged to Northfield and Littleton were indebted to goalkeeper Danny Edwards who kept them in the game with two magnificent saves.
The hosts, however, were beginning to take a measure of control and took the lead on 25 minutes when Paul Jones converted a penalty awarded after a push in the area.
On the restart, another excellent Edwards save thwarted Northfield who then exerted a measure of pressure for the opening 20 minutes.
But, as in the first half, Littleton assumed command and went close when Matty Staley's cross was met by a Jones half-volley that flew just over the top.
Littleton doubled their lead after 63 minutes when the excellent Philip Haines crossed into the box and Joe Wright swept the ball home on the volley.
This seemed to deflate the visitors and the scoring was completed ten minutes from time when Hayden Boulton crashed home a half-volley from 20 yards.
Littleton are away on Saturday to bottom of the table Kenilworth (2.45pm).
