I AM writing to express my concern at the continuing negation of recognition of Christmas as a Christian festival.
Why were there no coloured lights when the Christmas lights went up in Kidderminster last year?
Why was there nothing that used the word 'Christmas?' At one time the lights used to include lights saying 'Merry Christmas'.
I am aware than many councillors and politicians in this country are trying to remove Christmas on the grounds that it may offend people of other faiths. All other faiths are allowed to celebrate - by name - their own festivals, but apparently not Christians.
Other faiths are saying that Christmas and the celebration of the Christ, who it is about, is not offensive to them.
Are Christians not people too?
I am offended, as a Christian, that politicians are saying I cannot celebrate my faith and its festivals.
Rather than trying to be "politically correct," politicians - including our local council - need to treat all people as equal, with equal rights to celebrate their faith.
Although the lights are being put away at the beginning of the year, I do hope that when they go up this year that they will include 'Christmas'.
