THERE were thrills galore when the 2006 Worcester-shire Cricket Board Indoor League got under way at Pri-nce Henry's Sports Centre last week.
Both matches produced nail-biting climaxes with Ashton scraping through against the Boxmen in the last over, while Overbury recorded a penultimate ball win to see off the challenge of Elmley Castle.
David Lawrence and Peter Green added 50 in six overs as the Boxmen scored 107-5 and that score looked a winning one when Ashton required 20 off the final two overs.
However, Eddy Haines and Tom Archer had other ideas and the pair managed to score 13 off wayward final over with the latter finishing three short of a half-century.
Paul Gillett matched that score to help Overbury to victory and he received excellent support from Haynes who ended up with 34 against his name as Overbury scored 121-4 in reply to Castle's 119-6.
Newcomer Corbett and Ian Woodford staged a half-century stand in even time but Gillett's final over of the innings that realised just five runs was to prove crucial in the final count.
Gillett and Haynes then added 60 in reply when both were forced to retire but their return saw the pair score the dozen needed off the final over to bring a memorable night's action to a close.
