TENBURY League of Friends has been so successful in its fund-raising efforts that state-of-the-art equipment has been bought to benefit patients at the town's Community Hospital.
A new bladder scanner was presented to Dr Angus Thomson, consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Worcestershire Acute Trust, after the League succeeded in raising £7500.
Ginny Snape, modern matron at the Community Hospital, said: "We are delighted to received this scanner from the League of Friends. It will enable more women's procedures to be done in theatre at the hospital. The scanner will also be used in wards and by nursing teams."
Meanwhile, members of the League were joined by staff and their children to plant thousands of bulbs in the gardens of the hospital.
"We had a huge squad of people wearing Wellington boots planting thousands of bulbs in the hospital gardens," Ginny said.
"We were very grateful to them and we look forward to a vast and varied display of spring flowers next year. It was a muddy and damp but we had a fun day!"
Phil Gibbs, of the Clockhouse, Burford House Gardens and Station House Nursery were thanked for donating the bulbs.
