The first meeting of Lickey WI in 2006 was held at the parish hall.
The title of the evening's talk by Sonia Williams of Redditch, was Tin Roof Teaching. This was a fascinating account of Sonia's experiences of teaching in Zambia in the late 1960s when the first secondary school there was opened.
She displayed various artefacts and posters from her years living in a developing country. The pupils were eager to learn and Sonia has been able to follow the progress of some of her former students. She was thanked by Janet Coe for her most interesting presentation.
A raffle was drawn with three lucky prize-winners. The competition for a model cat was won by Jenny Ryder.
The next meeting, to be held on Tuesday, February 7, will be a social evening. The competition will be for a perfume bottle.
