ALAN Turk is attempting to etch his name into swimming history while raising money for cancer sufferers.
Alan, from Gilbert Road, Charford, will head to Scotland on August 12 in a bid to become the first man to swim a length of Loch Ness and Loch Lomond within the space of 48 hours. He is also raising money for the Macmillan Nurses appeal.
The 53-year-old is a former Great Britain swimmer, and still holds several UK records, but he is seeking sponsorship so he can attempt his biggest challenge yet.
To fund the task Alan needs equipment for his support crew.
Bromsgrove Cobbler Martin Connellan has already agreed to be a major sponsor, and will also hold collections in his shop for Macmillan Nurses. Further events are also being planned to raise extra charity money.
"Nobody has ever swam the two lochs together, so I will be trying to set a time for them to beat. We are looking to raise money for Macmillan Nurses, but we also need sponsorship to fund the swims."
Anyone willing to sponsor Alan can contact him on 01527 831898.
