A GROUP that works to support elderly town residents believes there should be late night transport in Droitwich Spa.
The town's Area Forum for Older People is calling for improved transport options for elderly residents so that more can go out later at night and be able to get home safely.
The forum believes it is unfair that Droitwich's older residents don't have the option of late-night shopping trips or visits to the town's Norbury Theatre because there is no transport in the evening.
"I think it would stop some elderly people feeling isolated and may even improve their health," said Sheila Price, who is responsible for transport issues for the Area Forum for Older People.
The forum is now looking into the option of putting on a bus or affordable transport and wants the opinions of the residents in the town.
Sheila said: "Late-night transport is definitely needed in Droitwich because at the moment there is nothing at all.
"It is an area that we have highlighted and one that we want to help improve. Before we can do that we need the views of the elderly residents. We want to know how popular the service would be and what the demand really is."
Anyone wanting to give their views on transport for older people and whether they would use such a service should call 01905 771122 or drop in a letter addressed to Sheila Price, Area Forum for Older People, at the Community Contact Centre in the High Street.
