MEMBERS greeted the new year by wearing a wonderful display of assorted tartans.
Kilts, scarves, ties, sashes and even those hats (the ones with orange hair) were worn for the evening.
There were rosettes (courtesy of Georgia, our president) for everyone to wear.
The speaker for the evening was Andrew Harries, representing Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.
Members were shown slides of local nature reserves the trust cared for.
He told us about the success of the speckled wood butterfly and the concerns for the grass snakes and adders, which are becoming endangered, and how the work of the trust involved coppicing, allowing delicate shrubs and plants to flourish - all working towards the preservation of the local nature for future generations to enjoy.
The evening concluded with sampling haggis, listening to a Robbie Burns poem and singing Auld Lang Syne.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 7 at Beoley Village Hall from 7.30pm.
The speaker is Mr Mills and the subject is "History of Kays".
The competition is "a self photograph, latest fashion, any year". New members welcome.
