DODFORD'S 112 pensioners each received a Christmas box courtesy of a village scheme set up to help its older residents. The cost amounted to £21/4/0 (£21.20) which left a balance of £7/8/6 (£7.42.5p) in the bank towards buying gifts and comforts next Yuletide.
AFTER much delay religious groups in Bromsgrove were keen to see a place of worship built at the new Charford council estate in Bromsgrove. A plot for a church had been earmarked, but details had still to be finalised.
FARMERS in Bromsgrove and Droitwich joined in the county's annual war on pigeons. Huge flocks of the feathered pests were driven from farm to farm to where the guns awaited them. One other method of keeping numbers in check being considered was to destroy the eggs.
