A FUND-raising healthy eating evening is being organised at Droitwich's Waitrose store, thanks to the county's Businesswoman of the Year.

Esther Ruggiero, who was awarded the title in June last year, has organised the event as part of her networking and fund-raising activities.

The evening, which will take place tomorrow at 7.30pm, is open to everyone. It will include talks on healthy food choices by a Waitrose nutritionist and a tour of the store, which opened six months ago. Mrs Ruggiero said: "Will power and commitment are often phrases we coin for successful businesses - but they are also used in abundance at this time of year as people start the new year with a long list of resolutions.

"By organising this healthy eating event, I hope to reaffirm the importance of looking after ourselves and encourage people to focus on their health and well being."

Since being appointed Worcestershire Businesswoman of the Year in June 2005, Mrs Ruggiero has worked hard to raise the profile of women in business.

She has organised a host of events including a holistic therapy evening and lunchtime networking opportunities at Rossini's restaurant in Droitwich. All funds raised are in aid of St Richard's Hospice, in Worcester, the organisers of the award. Future events include a racing night in March and a beauty evening in April. For a full list of events contact Mrs Ruggiero on 01905 797988 or e-mail her at esther@train4security.co.uk Places for all events are limited.

Mrs Ruggiero won Worcestershire Businesswoman of the Year for her involvement in setting up the Droitwich firm Train 4 Security.

The firm, which specialises is training security personnel, launched in 1999 and now employs 26 people with a turnover of £1.1m.
