REACHING the final of the National Trophy is the biggest achievement in Worcester Wolves' history, according to director of basketball Mick Donovan.
Despite losing 88-74 to London United at University of Worcester on Sunday, Wolves went through to the final, which will be played ahead of the BBL final at the Skydome in Coventry on February 5, thanks to a 178-154 aggregate win.
In an historic weekend for the club, they also beat Kingston Wildcats 83-66 on Saturday to move to top spot in EBL Division One.
Although a league and cup double seems like a very tangible reality for the Wolves, Donovan is refusing to get carried away.
He said: "Getting to the National Trophy final is by far and away the biggest achievement in this club's short history.
"But, that said, we are not even thinking about the final at the moment.
"We have three league games before then and that is all we will be concentrating on."
At the beginning of the season, many clubs were critical of Worcester's set-up, but Donovan believes this has been one of the key ingredients of their success.
"We have a very young squad -- the average age is around 23-years-old -- but with our training schedules and Josh Cooprider's excellent coaching this has worked well for us," he added.
"A lot of people said our squad was too young and Josh, who is the youngest coach in the league by about 10 years, was too young, but we have proved them all wrong so far."
Before the showcase final, Wolves face Teeside Mohawks, London Capitals and Nottingham Knights in EBL Division One.
n Tickets for Wolves' Trophy Final match with City of Sheffield Arrows on Sunday, Febraury 5 at 2pm at the Skydome in Coventry are available by calling Susie Hart on 01905-855140 (adults £16, children £11).
Wolves supporters who go to the final are eligible to stay on for the BBL final between Newcastle Eagles and Leicester Riders (4pm).
