A SCHOOLBOY whose love of motorcycling has helped him deal with his autism is showing he is the best thing on two wheels.
Joel Wright suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autistic spectrum problems and has problems communicating.
But since the seven-year-old's dad Neal introduced him to motocross a year ago, he has gone from strength to strength - both on the racetrack and in the classroom.
He picked up fourth place in the British Championship and was recently fourth in the Cleobury Challenge Winter Championship.
Mr Wright, of Ramsons Close, Malvern, said: "The only way we could get Joel to learn was through motorcycling.
"His teachers at Grove Junior School in Malvern encourage him to communicate by using racing as a way of understanding things.
"But we had no idea how much he would achieve in his first year - it's fantastic.
"It's changed his life - he's moved up a class and can now communicate much better.
"Whereas before he was the kid in the corner and no one spoke to him, he will now talk to people a lot more."
Mr Wright is now looking for someone to sponsor Joel.
