Worcester City supporters are being urged to vote for their favourite all-time FA Cup heroes.
To celebrate the 125th season of the FA Cup, the FA are compiling an official FA Cup Heroes Team featuring a player in each position, a manager and overall legend who will be crowned FA Cup hero of all time.
All 92 Premiership and Football League clubs -- along with the 33 top-ranked non-league clubs in the FA Cup's history -- are asked to provide their most successful, memorable or idolised players associated with the famous competition.
Of current non-league clubs, City are ranked 15th overall with a record of 128 wins from 258 FA Cup ties, a 49.61 success percentage.
Worcester fans are being asked to nominate their FA Cup heroes by e-mailing the Worcester News and entries must be sent before this season's fourth round ties on the weekend of January 28.
The FA are looking for one goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder, one forward and a manager from each club, giving a total of 625 names from all 125 clubs.
Three generations of City supporters can pin-point different stages over the last 50 years when the St George's Lane club created FA Cup headlines and from which heroes were born.
"We have a really proud record in the FA Cup," said City chairman Dave Boddy.
"Over the years, I think we have beaten four or five Football League sides.
"The 1958/59 FA Cup run is part of Worcester City folklore and I hope many of our supporters quite rightly recognise the players from that famous team.
"Obviously, that was before I was born. One of my favourite moments was when we played Coventry in 1982/83 in the third round proper.
"Gerry Francis was Coventry's captain and Dave Sexton the manager. They had beaten Manchester United 3-1 at home the week before."
"And in 1978/79, we beat Plymouth Argyle 2-0 at home when Malcolm Allison was their manager.
"We had been trying for more than 15 years to get to the first round proper. That was probably the best Worcester side we ever had."
City supporters may look to vote from the 1958/59 Bill Thompson-managed team that dumped Liverpool and Millwall out of the cup, which included Bernard Gosling, Tommy Skuse, Harry Knowles and Roy Paul.
Nobby Clark managed City in 1978/79 when players including Jimmy Williams, Malcolm Phelps, Kenny Lawrance and John Barton took the club to the second round.
Paul Moss scored a flurry of goals in the 1982/83 FA Cup run, while Mick Tuohy, Steve Crompton and Barry Williams starred.
Fans can also vote from this year's current side that guided City to the second round proper for the first time in 22 years.
When 625 names are cast from all 125 clubs, a panel of FA Cup experts will whittle it down to a shortlist of 125, with 25 players from each position and 25 managers.
Website TheFA.com will then begin a month-long search for the final all-time team by asking visitors to select their own FA Cup Legends team and manager.
