MALVERN Radar returned to action after a four-week break and after some reasonable performances leading up to Christmas, this display could best be described as lacklustre.
MARTLEY SPURS RESERVES 3, MALVERN RADAR 0
With one or two exceptions, the all-round display was disappointing and although the goals were preventable, Martley deserved their victory.
The home side took the lead on 17 minutes when a reckless challenge from Andy Bottomley resulted in a penalty being easily converted by Wayne Baldwin.
It was soon 2-0 following a horrendous mix-up between keeper and defence, leaving Luke Willetts the chance to score from a narrow angle.
The next hour or so saw plenty of huff and puff from the teams but little in the way of goalmouth action. Radar keeper Steve Green then produced two superb late saves before Willetts beat him from 15 yards.
Radar almost snatched a late consolation goal but home keeper Adam Baker saved Darren Loader's rocket free-kick in injury time.
This Sunday, Radar are at home to Claines, players meet Victoria Park 9.45am.
