WEST Malvern travelled to Bromsgrove to play a re-arranged Phipps Cup match.
BROMSGROVE CORINTHIANS 3, WEST MALVERN 0
Played in atrocious conditions on a heavy pitch in continuous sleet or snow, West Malvern bowed out to a much-improved Corinthians.
The Bromsgrove side, showing eight changes from the team West Malvern played three weeks ago, were the better side on the day and ran out worthy winners.
Bromsgrove were ahead after 42 minutes when the centre forward was allowed to run at the West Malvern defence and, with a dipping shot, completely deceived keeper James Bayliss to score from 20 yards.
Although West Malvern rallied they made little impact on the solid Bromsgrove defence. After 70 minutes Bromsgrove increased their lead when poor defending allowed a cross-cum-shot to finish in the back of the net.
Although West Malvern plugged away, they created few chances and Bromsgrove finally wrapped up the game up in the 85th minute when they scored a third.
Tomorrow (Saturday), West Malvern, sponsored by Amey and the Cross Keys, travel to play VBL Sports, players meet 1pm Bakery car park.
