THE planning application for Malvern's North Site could be decided within weeks.
Demolition of some existing buildings is likely to begin next week.
Defence Estates submitted an application for houses, a school, community facilities, shops and an industrial estate at the former defence base, off Leigh Stinton Road, almost two years ago.
At a meeting of Malvern Hills District Council on Tuesday, local member Serena Croad asked when a decision could be expected.
Coun John Raine said the latest delay had been due to independent assessment of affordable housing on the site, but that report is expected within three or four weeks.
After that, a special meeting of the southern area development control committee will consider the application.
Coun Raine said demolition work would start on site on Monday (January 16).
Meanwhile, house builder Persimmon has applied for retrospective planning permission for two large advertising billboards near North Site, following complaints from residents.
